2-Way Vs 3-Way Speakers – What Is The Difference?

2-Way Speakers

2 Way SpeakersLet’s start with 2-way speakers. 2-way speakers have 2 drivers. For your convenience, we use drivers as speakers. 2-speakers that convey a variety of sounds to you.

These two speakers are known as woofer and tweeter. A woofer is a speaker designed for low-frequency sounds, Such as drums, bass, guitar, or tuba.

In 2-way speakers, the woofer also handles the frequency of some of the mid-range sections. Simply put, the woofer handles frequencies below 2,000 Hz.

After the woofer 2-way speakers are followed by another driver tweeter which is a smaller driver. The tweeter handles high audio frequencies. The tweeter generates frequencies above 2,000 Hz

If we talk about the price of 2-way speakers then it is cheaper than the part of 3-way speakers. Because of 2-way speakers’ useless content.

3-Way Speakers

3 Way Speakers3-way speakers are also known as (tri-axial speakers). 3-way speakers come with Three drivers. All three drivers offer sound at different frequencies. 3-way speakers have a tweeter, a woofer, and an additional tweeter or mid range driver similar to what you would find in a mid bass or mid range speaker. The tweeter that has been added is small and resembles a woofer.

The additional tweeter offers frequencies between the bottom of the woofer and the height of the tweeter. The first range is for a woofer that is hovering below 200 Hz.

Then there is the medium range for devices from 200Hz to 2000Hz. The third range is the last tweeter, which reproduces tambourines, cymbals, and the rest.

Crossovers

2-way and 3-way car speakers come with good crossovers and bad crossovers. A crossover is a circuit that offers a range of maximum frequencies for sound to be conveyed to speakers.

Use the crossover filter to tap on both ends of the frequencies.  Because of this, they are unable to divide the boundaries or to start and stop at a certain frequency.
