By common practice, soundbars are placed in front of the television. But sometimes, these soundbars can be big, therefore forcing the TV to be too close to the wall. Asides from this, the soundbar may obstruct your TV experience, making important messages hard to read.
In this situation, raising the TV above your soundbar is the best way to keep the TV off the wall while still enjoying your soundbar. This article will show you how you can easily set your TV above your soundbar to create space and a better room setting.
Using Block to Raise Your TV
Raising a TV off its base level can be done with a lot of improvisation. One of them is to use a block or so-called risers.
This does not necessarily mean using the common conventional cement brick, any strong square or rectangular object would suffice. It could be plastic, wood, metal, or conventional brick.
However, one rule to note before selecting a block for use is the size of the block. Make sure the block can create a space large enough to house the soundbar, and strong enough to carry the TV.
Step 1: Make Sure The Surface is Leveled and Clean
The first step is to prepare the surface properly and remove everything from the position you want to set up the block. Ensure it is leveled to prevent the TV or Soundbar from falling off.
Step 2: Set up The Block At Both Extremes
To create better balance and distribute the weight f your TV properly, it is best advice to set up the block at the two ends.
Ensure the blocks are arranged at a safe distance from each other – 2 blocks at each end. Remember, they should be of the same size and equal strength.
Step 3: Place Another Block on The Block Stack
After the first 4 blocks have been arranged, set up another equal number of blocks directly on the ones earlier set.
Ensure these new blocks are not scattered, or at an uneven distance, to prevent accidents and to better distribute the weight of the block.
Step 4: Place Your TV Stand on The New Stack
This new stack will serve as the one for the TV stand. Place the TV stand on it to create a space below.
Now you can comfortably place your Tv at the top stand and your soundbar below your TV level. You can also be sure to still get the full experience from your soundbar and TV alike while saving you more space.
Using AV Mounts, Anchors, and Brackets
Option 1: Using an AV mount
This is probably the easiest method to rearrange your room to raise your TV above your soundbar.
This method also saves you a lot of space. However, you might need a bit of technical know-how, to fix the AV mount on the wall.
Also, the kind of wall available in your room should be considered to prevent the TV from falling off the wall. Drywalls are the most important kind of wall to watch out for and whichever wall you might choose, ensure it is strong enough.

Option 2: Anchors and drywall screw option
One thing to note before buying drywall screws and anchors is that you are giving your TV a permanent home.
The fact that they require drilling holes in the wall before setting them up, makes them more permanent than any other wall mount.
This option works almost like the AV mount, but they are more permanent and instead of AV mounts, they use screws and anchors to hold the TV to the wall.
Using the L bracket
The L bracket is also one of the most stable wall mounts. It cancels out every worry about weight when mounting your TV on the wall.
This option keeps your TV close to the wall while making enough space below it for the soundbar.
How To Raise TV without Wall Mount
Step 1: Decide where to place it
The rule of thumb is that the surface must be flat. Before you can comfortably place a TV on a surface, the Tv can sit comfortably without slipping or bending aside.
Also, ensure there will be enough space beside, behind, and around the TV because that’s another factor that could affect its balance.
Step 2: Set Up The TV Stand
Whether it’s a DIY stand or a TV stand from a bigger brand, TV stands have one thing in common and that’s the setup. Most often, the set-up is always about fixing the head to the base, and then to the top piece.
Step 3: Place The Tv On The Stand
The only rule to set up a TV on a TV stand is to make it center. Carefully place the TV on the stand and ensure it is properly centered, such that it is not leaning towards one side than the other.
And since most of them come with a top and lower piece, you can easily place your soundbar on the lower piece.
Step 4: Secure It To The Stand
In some of the common new TV stands, there is an opportunity to secure the TV to the stand. If you are using a stand like this, ensure to secure the TV firmly to the stand using the screws and bolt.
Well, once this is firm enough, you will know. Now, you can be sure your TV is firmly raised and not even the effect from the soundbar can make it fall.
